The political parties and special interests try every day to pit us against each other for their own benefit. We’ve had enough. We know that it’s our unity—and the values we share in common—that has always been the source of our state’s strength.
Unite Colorado is a movement of Democrats, Republicans, and independents who are committed to bridging the growing partisan divide in order to tackle our largest challenges and leave a better state for future generations.
Together, with our voices and our votes, we will rise above today’s divisions and pioneer a new way forward for Colorado and our country.
As Democrats and Republicans move further to their respective extremes, Colorado’s state legislature has become more polarized than ever before and is now the most polarized in the country.
The result is that many Coloradans are left without a voice in our government, and the legislature itself has become paralyzed by increasing partisanship. Bottom line: there is little progress on the issues we all care about, from infrastructure to education.
A majority (53%) of Colorado voters believe both parties are not working well together to solve the state’s problems. If you’re one of them, keep reading because we change it.
We believe fixing our broken political system begins with the courage to do something new: electing leaders who don’t just say they are different, but who actually are different.
Our mission is to elect common sense, independent candidates to office who can represent the people –– not the party bosses or special interests.
Once in office, these independents can be our voice, present new ideas, and work with both sides to get things done.
The Centennial State has never elected an unaffiliated member to the State Legislature before, but that doesn’t mean it can’t happen in 2018.
Today, there are more unaffiliated voters (36%) than either Democrats and Republicans –– and 82% of all voters say they are open to supporting an independent candidate for the state legislature.
For the very first time, Unite Colorado is building the necessary grassroots network, donor community, and electoral infrastructure to recruit viable independent candidates and help them run winning campaigns.
Our ambitious but achievable “Fulcrum Strategy” is focused on electing a sufficient number of independent leaders to the state legislature who, as a coalition, could deny both parties an outright majority and use their incredible leverage to forge common ground solutions. In the Colorado State Senate (18R-17D), for example, just one independent could control the balance of power.
The need is apparent, the opportunity is here, and the time is right. Join us.
